The Bestrophin-1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB3022) is a valuable tool for researchers studying Bestrophin-1, a protein involved in calcium-activated chloride channel activity. This antibody, produced in rabbits, shows high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By specifically binding to Bestrophin-1, this antibody enables accurate detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it ideal for investigations in molecular biology and cell physiology.Bestrophin-1 is a key player in cellular chloride conductance regulation and has been linked to various physiological processes, including retinal function and neurotransmitter release.
Its role in calcium-dependent chloride channel activity makes it a target of interest in studies on ion transport and neuronal signaling pathways. Researchers exploring the functions and regulatory mechanisms of Bestrophin-1 will benefit from the specificity and reliability of this polyclonal antibody in their experimental work.

This gene encodes a member of the bestrophin gene family. This small gene family is characterized by proteins with a highly conserved N-terminus with four to six transmembrane domains. Bestrophins may form chloride ion channels or may regulate voltage-gated L-type calcium-ion channels. Bestrophins are generally believed to form calcium-activated chloride-ion channels in epithelial cells but they have also been shown to be highly permeable to bicarbonate ion transport in retinal tissue. Mutations in this gene are responsible for juvenile-onset vitelliform macular dystrophy (VMD2), also known as Best macular dystrophy, in addition to adult-onset vitelliform macular dystrophy (AVMD) and other retinopathies. Alternative splicing results in multiple variants encoding distinct isoforms.
