The BCKDHA Polyclonal Antibody (CAB21588) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the BCKDHA protein, which plays a crucial role in branched-chain amino acid metabolism. This antibody, generated in rabbits, is highly specific to human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications. By selectively binding to BCKDHA, it allows for the accurate detection and analysis of this protein in various cell types.BCKDHA is a key enzyme in the breakdown of branched-chain amino acids, essential nutrients that are important for protein synthesis and energy production.
Dysregulation of BCKDHA activity has been implicated in metabolic disorders and neurological diseases, making it a target of interest in research on these conditions. By studying the function of BCKDHA, researchers can gain insights into the underlying mechanisms of these diseases and potentially develop novel therapeutic strategies.

The branched-chain alpha-keto acid (BCAA) dehydrogenase (BCKD) complex is an innter mitochondrial enzyme complex that catalyzes the second major step in the catabolism of the branched-chain amino acids leucine, isoleucine, and valine. The BCKD complex consists of three catalytic components: a heterotetrameric (alpha2-beta2) branched-chain alpha-keto acid decarboxylase (E1), a dihydrolipoyl transacylase (E2), and a dihydrolipoamide dehydrogenase (E3). This gene encodes the alpha subunit of the decarboxylase (E1) component. Mutations in this gene result in maple syrup urine disease, type IA. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
