The BBS2 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB7425) is a valuable tool for researchers studying BBS2, a protein associated with Bardet-Biedl Syndrome (BBS), a rare genetic disorder characterized by obesity, vision loss, kidney abnormalities, and other symptoms. This antibody, produced in rabbits, has high specificity for detecting BBS2 in human samples and is suitable for use in Western blot applications.BBS2 plays a crucial role in ciliary function and intracellular trafficking, and mutations in the BBS2 gene can lead to the development of BBS.
Research on BBS2 and related proteins is important for understanding the underlying mechanisms of ciliopathies and developing potential treatments for these disorders. With its high reactivity and specificity, the BBS2 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB7425) is a versatile tool for investigating the role of BBS2 in cellular processes and disease pathogenesis. Its application extends to a wide range of research areas, including genetics, cell biology, and rare genetic disorders.

This gene is a member of the Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS) gene family. Bardet-Biedl syndrome is an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by severe pigmentary retinopathy, obesity, polydactyly, renal malformation and cognitive disability. The proteins encoded by BBS gene family members are structurally diverse and the similar phenotypes exhibited by mutations in BBS gene family members is likely due to their shared roles in cilia formation and function. Many BBS proteins localize to the basal bodies, ciliary axonemes, and pericentriolar regions of cells. BBS proteins may also be involved in intracellular trafficking via microtubule-related transport. The protein encoded by this gene forms a multiprotein BBSome complex with seven other BBS proteins.
