The ATP5C1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB15257) is a vital tool for researchers studying ATP5C1, a key enzyme involved in mitochondrial energy production. This antibody, produced in rabbits, shows high specificity and reactivity with human samples, making it ideal for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the ATP5C1 protein, researchers can accurately detect and analyze its expression in various cell types, facilitating studies in bioenergetics, metabolism, and mitochondrial dysfunction.
ATP5C1, also known as ATP synthase subunit epsilon, is essential for ATP synthesis in the mitochondria, the cell's powerhouses. Dysregulation of ATP5C1 has been linked to various diseases, including metabolic disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer. By understanding the role of ATP5C1 in cellular energetics, researchers can uncover new therapeutic targets and develop treatments for conditions associated with mitochondrial dysfunction.

This gene encodes a subunit of mitochondrial ATP synthase. Mitochondrial ATP synthase catalyzes ATP synthesis, utilizing an electrochemical gradient of protons across the inner membrane during oxidative phosphorylation. ATP synthase is composed of two linked multi-subunit complexes: the soluble catalytic core, F1, and the membrane-spanning component, Fo, comprising the proton channel. The catalytic portion of mitochondrial ATP synthase consists of 5 different subunits (alpha, beta, gamma, delta, and epsilon) assembled with a stoichiometry of 3 alpha, 3 beta, and a single representative of the other 3. The proton channel consists of three main subunits (a, b, c). This gene encodes the gamma subunit of the catalytic core. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. This gene also has a pseudogene on chromosome 14.
