The ATP1A1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB0643) is a valuable tool for researchers studying ATP1A1, a key protein involved in cellular ion transport and maintaining cell membrane potential. This antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly specific to human samples and has been validated for use in Western blotting applications. By binding to the ATP1A1 protein, this antibody allows for reliable detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it an essential component for research in physiology, pharmacology, and neurobiology.ATP1A1, also known as Na+/K+ transporting ATPase alpha 1, is crucial for maintaining electrochemical gradients across cell membranes, playing a vital role in cellular functions such as nerve conduction, muscle contraction, and heart function.
Dysregulation of ATP1A1 has been implicated in various diseases including hypertension, heart failure, and neurological disorders. By studying the function and regulation of ATP1A1, researchers can gain insights into potential therapeutic targets for these conditions, ultimately improving treatment options for patients.

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the family of P-type cation transport ATPases, and to the subfamily of Na+/K+ -ATPases. Na+/K+ -ATPase is an integral membrane protein responsible for establishing and maintaining the electrochemical gradients of Na and K ions across the plasma membrane. These gradients are essential for osmoregulation, for sodium-coupled transport of a variety of organic and inorganic molecules, and for electrical excitability of nerve and muscle. This enzyme is composed of two subunits, a large catalytic subunit (alpha) and a smaller glycoprotein subunit (beta). The catalytic subunit of Na+/K+ -ATPase is encoded by multiple genes. This gene encodes an alpha 1 subunit. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
