The ATM Polyclonal Antibody (CAB15645) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the ATM protein, a key player in the DNA damage response pathway. This antibody, generated in rabbits, exhibits high specificity for human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By targeting the ATM protein, this antibody enables precise detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it ideal for investigations in the fields of genetics, oncology, and cell biology.ATM, also known as ataxia telangiectasia mutated, is a crucial regulator of the cellular response to DNA damage, playing a critical role in maintaining genome stability and preventing the development of cancer.
Dysregulation of ATM function has been implicated in a variety of diseases, including ataxia telangiectasia, a rare genetic disorder characterized by neurological abnormalities and an increased risk of cancer. Research into the mechanisms underlying ATM activity is essential for developing targeted therapies for these conditions and advancing our understanding of DNA repair processes.

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the PI3/PI4-kinase family. This protein is an important cell cycle checkpoint kinase that phosphorylates; thus, it functions as a regulator of a wide variety of downstream proteins, including tumor suppressor proteins p53 and BRCA1, checkpoint kinase CHK2, checkpoint proteins RAD17 and RAD9, and DNA repair protein NBS1. This protein and the closely related kinase ATR are thought to be master controllers of cell cycle checkpoint signaling pathways that are required for cell response to DNA damage and for genome stability. Mutations in this gene are associated with ataxia telangiectasia, an autosomal recessive disorder.
