The ATF6B Polyclonal Antibody (CAB16742) is a research tool designed for studies involving ATF6B, a transcription factor known for its role in the unfolded protein response (UPR) pathway. ATF6B is a key regulator of cellular stress responses, particularly in the endoplasmic reticulum, where it helps maintain protein homeostasis. This antibody, derived from rabbit immunization, exhibits high specificity and sensitivity when used in various research applications, including Western blotting. By specifically binding to ATF6B protein, researchers can accurately detect and analyze ATF6B expression levels in different cell types and experimental conditions.
The significance of ATF6B in cellular stress responses and UPR pathway activation makes it a crucial target for investigations into diseases related to protein misfolding and ER stress, such as neurodegenerative disorders, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. Understanding the regulatory mechanisms of ATF6B can provide valuable insights into potential therapeutic strategies aimed at modulating cellular stress responses for disease intervention.

The protein encoded by this gene is a transcription factor in the unfolded protein response (UPR) pathway during ER stress. Either as a homodimer or as a heterodimer with ATF6-alpha, the encoded protein binds to the ER stress response element, interacting with nuclear transcription factor Y to activate UPR target genes. The protein is normally found in the membrane of the endoplasmic reticulum; however, under ER stress, the N-terminal cytoplasmic domain is cleaved from the rest of the protein and translocates to the nucleus. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
