The ATXN3 Monoclonal Antibody (ABE757) offered by AssayGenie is a key tool for researchers studying Ataxin-3, a protein involved in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases like Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3). This antibody, produced in mouse, is highly specific for human Ataxin-3 and is suitable for various applications including Western blot, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry.Ataxin-3 is a deubiquitinating enzyme that plays a crucial role in protein degradation and maintenance of neuronal function. Mutations in the ATXN3 gene lead to the accumulation of toxic protein aggregates, which are hallmark features of SCA3 and other polyglutamine diseases.
By targeting Ataxin-3, researchers can gain insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying these disorders and develop potential therapeutic strategies. The ATXN3 Monoclonal Antibody from AssayGenie provides researchers with a reliable tool for investigating Ataxin-3 expression, localization, and function in both normal and diseased tissues. Its high specificity and sensitivity make it an invaluable resource for advancing our understanding of neurodegenerative diseases and exploring novel treatment approaches.

Machado-Joseph disease, also known as spinocerebellar ataxia-3, is an autosomal dominant neurologic disorder. The protein encoded by this gene contains (CAG)n repeats in the coding region, and the expansion of these repeats from the normal 12-44 to 52-86 is one cause of Machado-Joseph disease. There is a negative correlation between the age of onset and CAG repeat numbers. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene.
