The ASL Polyclonal Antibody (CAB6357) is a specialized research tool designed for studying ASL, a crucial enzyme involved in the urea cycle. This antibody is produced in rabbits and exhibits high reactivity with human samples, making it an ideal choice for Western blot applications. By specifically binding to the ASL protein, this antibody enables accurate detection and analysis in various cell types, facilitating research in biochemistry and metabolic disorders.ASL, also known as argininosuccinate lyase, plays a vital role in the urea cycle by catalyzing the conversion of argininosuccinate into arginine and fumarate.
Dysregulation of ASL activity can lead to urea cycle disorders, resulting in the accumulation of toxic ammonia in the body. This antibody provides researchers with a valuable tool for investigating the function of ASL in health and disease, with potential applications in metabolic research and drug development.

Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 289-464 of human ASL (NP_000039.2).
This gene encodes a member of the lyase 1 family. The encoded protein forms a cytosolic homotetramer and primarily catalyzes the reversible hydrolytic cleavage of argininosuccinate into arginine and fumarate, an essential step in the liver in detoxifying ammonia via the urea cycle. Mutations in this gene result in the autosomal recessive disorder argininosuccinic aciduria, or argininosuccinic acid lyase deficiency. A nontranscribed pseudogene is also located on the long arm of chromosome 22. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described.
