The ASIP Polyclonal Antibody (CAB6872) is a powerful tool for researchers studying ASIP, a protein involved in regulating pigmentation and melanoma development. This antibody, produced in rabbits, has high specificity for human samples and is validated for use in various applications, including immunohistochemistry and ELISA.ASIP, also known as agouti signaling protein, plays a critical role in controlling the production of melanin in the skin, hair, and eyes. Dysregulation of ASIP has been linked to disorders of pigmentation and even melanoma, a deadly form of skin cancer. By targeting ASIP with this antibody, researchers can gain valuable insights into the mechanisms underlying these conditions and potentially identify new therapeutic targets for treatment.
With its high reactivity and specificity, the ASIP Polyclonal Antibody (CAB6872) is an essential tool for investigating the role of ASIP in both normal physiological processes and disease states. Whether studying pigmentation disorders, melanoma progression, or other related conditions, this antibody offers researchers a reliable means of detecting and analyzing ASIP expression in various experimental settings.

In mice, the agouti gene encodes a paracrine signaling molecule that causes hair follicle melanocytes to synthesize pheomelanin, a yellow pigment, instead of the black or brown pigment, eumelanin. Pleiotropic effects of constitutive expression of the mouse gene include adult-onset obesity, increased tumor susceptibility, and premature infertility. This gene is highly similar to the mouse gene and encodes a secreted protein that may (1) affect the quality of hair pigmentation, (2) act as a pharmacological antagonist of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, (3) play a role in neuroendocrine aspects of melanocortin action, and (4) have a functional role in regulating lipid metabolism in adipocytes.
