The ASGR2 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB6281) is a valuable tool for research involving the ASGR2 protein, a key player in liver function and glycoprotein metabolism. This antibody, produced in rabbits, has high specificity for human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the ASGR2 protein, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of ASGR2 in various cell types, making it ideal for studies in hepatology and glycobiology research.
ASGR2, also known as the asialoglycoprotein receptor 2, is involved in the clearance of glycoproteins from circulation and plays a crucial role in maintaining liver health. Dysregulation of ASGR2 function has been linked to liver diseases, metabolic disorders, and cancer. Understanding the role of ASGR2 in glycoprotein metabolism is essential for developing targeted therapies for liver-related conditions and improving our understanding of liver physiology.

This gene encodes a subunit of the asialoglycoprotein receptor. This receptor is a transmembrane protein that plays a critical role in serum glycoprotein homeostasis by mediating the endocytosis and lysosomal degradation of glycoproteins with exposed terminal galactose or N-acetylgalactosamine residues. The asialoglycoprotein receptor may facilitate hepatic infection by multiple viruses including hepatitis B, and is also a target for liver-specific drug delivery. The asialoglycoprotein receptor is a hetero-oligomeric protein composed of major and minor subunits, which are encoded by different genes. The protein encoded by this gene is the less abundant minor subunit. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene.
