The APRT Polyclonal Antibody (CAB13946) is a high-quality antibody that specifically targets the APRT protein, an enzyme involved in the purine metabolic pathway. This antibody, generated in rabbits, is highly reactive with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the APRT protein, researchers can easily detect and analyze APRT expression in various cell types.APRT, or adenine phosphoribosyltransferase, plays a crucial role in the salvage pathway of purine metabolism, which is essential for DNA synthesis and energy production in cells. Dysregulation of APRT has been implicated in various diseases, including gout and kidney stones.
By studying the expression and activity of APRT, researchers can gain valuable insights into the mechanisms underlying these diseases and potentially identify new therapeutic targets. The APRT Polyclonal Antibody is a valuable tool for researchers studying purine metabolism, gout, kidney stones, and other related conditions. Its high specificity and sensitivity make it ideal for use in immunology and metabolic research, helping to advance our understanding of the role of APRT in health and disease.

Adenine phosphoribosyltransferase belongs to the purine/pyrimidine phosphoribosyltransferase family. A conserved feature of this gene is the distribution of CpG dinucleotides. This enzyme catalyzes the formation of AMP and inorganic pyrophosphate from adenine and 5-phosphoribosyl-1-pyrophosphate (PRPP). It also produces adenine as a by-product of the polyamine biosynthesis pathway. A homozygous deficiency in this enzyme causes 2,8-dihydroxyadenine urolithiasis. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
