The APOBEC3G Polyclonal Antibody (CAB13598) is a valuable tool for researchers studying APOBEC3G, a protein involved in antiviral defense and genetic mutation. This antibody, generated in rabbits, exhibits high specificity for human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the APOBEC3G protein, this antibody allows for accurate detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it an essential reagent for studies in virology and genetic research.APOBEC3G is a member of the APOBEC family of proteins, known for their ability to restrict viral replication by inducing hypermutation in viral DNA/RNA. APOBEC3G specifically targets retroviruses like HIV-1, making it a key player in the host defense against these pathogens.
Research on APOBEC3G has implications for the development of antiviral therapies and understanding the mechanisms of viral evolution and escape from immune control. The APOBEC3G Polyclonal Antibody can contribute to the investigation of APOBEC3G's function in antiviral immunity and its potential as a target for therapeutic intervention. By elucidating the role of APOBEC3G in viral infections and genetic diversity, researchers can advance the field of antiviral research and potentially uncover new strategies for combating viral diseases.

This gene is a member of the cytidine deaminase gene family. It is one of seven related genes or pseudogenes found in a cluster, thought to result from gene duplication, on chromosome 22. Members of the cluster encode proteins that are structurally and functionally related to the C to U RNA-editing cytidine deaminase APOBEC1. The protein encoded by this gene catalyzes site-specific deamination of both RNA and single-stranded DNA. The encoded protein has been found to be a specific inhibitor of human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV-1) infectivity.
