Description
Anti-APOBEC3F Antibody (CAB2507)
The APOBEC3F Polyclonal Antibody (CAB2507) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the APOBEC3F protein, an important member of the APOBEC family involved in innate immunity and viral restriction. This antibody, generated in rabbits, shows high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding specifically to the APOBEC3F protein, this antibody enables accurate detection and analysis in various cell types, making it an ideal choice for investigations in virology and immunology.APOBEC3F plays a crucial role in the body's defense against viral infections by catalyzing the deamination of cytidine residues in viral DNA/RNA, leading to hypermutation and eventual viral genome degradation.
Understanding the function and regulation of APOBEC3F is essential for unraveling the complex interplay between host immune responses and viral evasion strategies. Research into APOBEC3F could lead to the development of novel antiviral therapies and strategies for combating viral infections.Overall, the APOBEC3F Polyclonal Antibody (CAB2507) represents a valuable tool for researchers aiming to elucidate the role of APOBEC3F in innate immunity and viral restriction, furthering our understanding of host-pathogen interactions and potentially uncovering new therapeutic targets for combating viral infections.

Background: | This gene is a member of the cytidine deaminase gene family. It is one of seven related genes or pseudogenes found in a cluster, thought to result from gene duplication, on chromosome 22. Members of the cluster encode proteins that are structurally and functionally related to the C to U RNA-editing cytidine deaminase APOBEC1. It is thought that the proteins may be RNA editing enzymes and have roles in growth or cell cycle control. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. |
UniProt Protein Function: | APOBEC3F: Host cellular restriction factor that may have antiviral activities against exogenous and endogenous viruses, as well as retrotransposons. After being packaged into HIV-1 virions, blocks productive infection by massively editing dC residues to dU on the DNA minus strand during reverse transcription. The editing of the minus strand DNA of HIV-1 during reverse transcription leads to G- to-A transitions in the plus strand. The inhibition of viral replication is either due to the degradation of the minus strand before its integration or to the lethality of the hypermutations. May also play a role in the epigenetic regulation of gene expression through the process of active DNA demethylation. Belongs to the cytidine and deoxycytidylate deaminase family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. |
