The APAF1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB0751) is a crucial tool for researchers studying APAF1, a key protein involved in programmed cell death, also known as apoptosis. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high specificity and reactivity towards human samples, and has been validated for use in Western blot applications.APAF1, or apoptotic protease activating factor 1, is essential for the activation of caspases and initiation of apoptosis in response to cellular stress or damage. Dysregulation of APAF1 function has been implicated in various diseases, including cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and autoimmune conditions.
By targeting APAF1 with this polyclonal antibody, researchers can investigate the role of this protein in apoptosis pathways, potentially leading to the development of therapeutic interventions. With its ability to detect APAF1 in a variety of cell types, this antibody is an invaluable tool for studies in cell biology, oncology, and neurology. By understanding the mechanisms by which APAF1 mediates cell death, researchers can gain insights into disease progression and identify new targets for drug development.

Immunogen:
Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 470-600 of human APAF1 (NP_863651.1).
This gene encodes a cytoplasmic protein that initiates apoptosis. This protein contains several copies of the WD-40 domain, a caspase recruitment domain (CARD), and an ATPase domain (NB-ARC). Upon binding cytochrome c and dATP, this protein forms an oligomeric apoptosome. The apoptosome binds and cleaves caspase 9 preproprotein, releasing its mature, activated form. Activated caspase 9 stimulates the subsequent caspase cascade that commits the cell to apoptosis. Alternative splicing results in several transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
