The ANTXR1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB6525) is a valuable tool for research involving ANTXR1, a cell surface receptor involved in mediating anthrax toxin entry into cells. This antibody, raised in rabbits, is highly specific and has been validated for use in various applications, including Western blot and immunohistochemistry.ANTXR1, also known as tumor endothelial marker 8 (TEM8), is a crucial player in the pathogenesis of anthrax infection. By binding to protective antigen (PA), ANTXR1 facilitates the internalization of lethal toxin into host cells, leading to the often fatal outcomes associated with anthrax.
Research into ANTXR1 is not only important for understanding the mechanisms of anthrax infection but also holds potential for the development of novel therapeutics and vaccines against this deadly disease. Furthermore, ANTXR1 has been implicated in cancer progression, making this antibody a valuable tool for studies in both infectious diseases and oncology.

This gene encodes a type I transmembrane protein and is a tumor-specific endothelial marker that has been implicated in colorectal cancer. The encoded protein has been shown to also be a docking protein or receptor for Bacillus anthracis toxin, the causative agent of the disease, anthrax. The binding of the protective antigen (PA) component, of the tripartite anthrax toxin, to this receptor protein mediates delivery of toxin components to the cytosol of cells. Once inside the cell, the other two components of anthrax toxin, edema factor (EF) and lethal factor (LF) disrupt normal cellular processes. Three alternatively spliced variants that encode different protein isoforms have been described.
