The PTPN12 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB20569) is a valuable tool for researchers studying PTPN12, a protein tyrosine phosphatase known to play a role in cell signaling and regulation. This antibody, raised in rabbits, is highly specific to human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the PTPN12 protein, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of PTPN12 in a variety of cell types, making it an excellent choice for studies in cell biology, signal transduction, and cancer research.
PTPN12 is a crucial regulator of cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis, with implications in cancer progression and metastasis. Its role in cell signaling pathways makes it a promising target for therapeutic research aimed at developing treatments for cancer and other diseases. By studying the function and expression of PTPN12, researchers can gain valuable insights into the mechanisms underlying these diseases and potentially identify new therapeutic targets for intervention.

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family. PTPs are signaling molecules that regulate a variety of cellular processes including cell growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation. This PTP contains a C-terminal PEST motif, which serves as a protein-protein interaction domain, and may regulate protein intracellular half-life. This PTP was found to bind and dephosphorylate the product of the oncogene c-ABL and thus may play a role in oncogenesis. This PTP was also shown to interact with, and dephosphorylate, various products related to cytoskeletal structure and cell adhesion, such as p130 (Cas), CAKbeta/PTK2B, PSTPIP1, and paxillin. This suggests it has a regulatory role in controlling cell shape and mobility. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms.
