The Anti-Phospho-Akt1 (S308) + Akt2 (S309) + Akt3 (S305) Antibody (CABP1266) is a crucial tool for researchers studying the Akt signaling pathway, which plays a key role in cell proliferation, survival, and metabolism. This polyclonal antibody has been raised in rabbits and is highly specific for phosphorylated Akt1 at Serine 308, Akt2 at Serine 309, and Akt3 at Serine 305 in human samples.Akt, also known as protein kinase B, is a key player in various cellular processes and is often dysregulated in cancer and other diseases. By targeting the phosphorylation sites of Akt1, Akt2, and Akt3, this antibody enables the detection and analysis of Akt activity in different cell types, making it an invaluable tool for studies in cancer biology, cell signaling, and drug development.
Understanding the phosphorylation status of Akt isoforms is essential for unraveling the complex mechanisms underlying cell growth, survival, and metabolism. The Anti-Phospho-Akt1 + Akt2 + Akt3 Antibody provides researchers with a reliable tool to delve deeper into the role of Akt signaling in health and disease, paving the way for new therapeutic strategies targeting this pathway.
The serine-threonine protein kinase encoded by the AKT1 gene is catalytically inactive in serum-starved primary and immortalized fibroblasts. AKT1 and the related AKT2 are activated by platelet-derived growth factor. The activation is rapid and specific, and it is abrogated by mutations in the pleckstrin homology domain of AKT1. It was shown that the activation occurs through phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase. In the developing nervous system AKT is a critical mediator of growth factor-induced neuronal survival. Survival factors can suppress apoptosis in a transcription-independent manner by activating the serine/threonine kinase AKT1, which then phosphorylates and inactivates components of the apoptotic machinery. Mutations in this gene have been associated with the Proteus syndrome. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2011]
