The Anti-phospho-Akt (Thr308) Polyclonal Antibody (CABP1259) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the Akt signaling pathway. Akt, also known as protein kinase B, is a key regulator of cell growth, survival, and metabolism, making it a crucial target in cancer and metabolic disease research. This antibody specifically recognizes Akt phosphorylated at threonine 308, allowing for precise detection and analysis of Akt activation in various cell types.Raised in rabbits and validated for use in Western blot applications, this antibody is highly reactive with human samples, ensuring reliable and accurate results.
By targeting the phosphorylated form of Akt, researchers can investigate the impact of Akt activation on cellular processes such as proliferation, apoptosis, and metabolism. This antibody is an essential tool for studies aiming to unravel the complex mechanisms underlying Akt signaling and its role in disease development and progression.

The serine-threonine protein kinase encoded by the AKT1 gene is catalytically inactive in serum-starved primary and immortalized fibroblasts. AKT1 and the related AKT2 are activated by platelet-derived growth factor. The activation is rapid and specific, and it is abrogated by mutations in the pleckstrin homology domain of AKT1. It was shown that the activation occurs through phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase. In the developing nervous system AKT is a critical mediator of growth factor-induced neuronal survival. Survival factors can suppress apoptosis in a transcription-independent manner by activating the serine/threonine kinase AKT1, which then phosphorylates and inactivates components of the apoptotic machinery. Mutations in this gene have been associated with the Proteus syndrome. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene.
