The NAIP Polyclonal Antibody (CAB19730) is a valuable tool for research involving the NAIP protein, an important component of the inflammasome complex that plays a crucial role in immune responses. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding specifically to the NAIP protein, researchers can detect and analyze its expression in various cell types, making it an ideal choice for studies in immunology and inflammation research.
NAIP, also known as NLR family apoptosis inhibitory protein, is essential for the activation of inflammatory responses and the regulation of cell death pathways. Dysregulation of NAIP has been implicated in various inflammatory disorders and autoimmune diseases, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic target. By investigating the function of NAIP, researchers can gain a deeper understanding of its role in immune regulation and potentially develop new treatments for inflammatory conditions.

This gene is part of a 500 kb inverted duplication on chromosome 5q13. This duplicated region contains at least four genes and repetitive elements which make it prone to rearrangements and deletions. The repetitiveness and complexity of the sequence have also caused difficulty in determining the organization of this genomic region. This copy of the gene is full length; additional copies with truncations and internal deletions are also present in this region of chromosome 5q13. It is thought that this gene is a modifier of spinal muscular atrophy caused by mutations in a neighboring gene, SMN1. The protein encoded by this gene contains regions of homology to two baculovirus inhibitor of apoptosis proteins, and it is able to suppress apoptosis induced by various signals. Alternative splicing and the use of alternative promoters results in multiple transcript variants.
