The Anti-ITPA Antibody (CAB9370) is a valuable tool for researchers studying ITPA, an enzyme involved in purine nucleotide metabolism and maintenance of cellular nucleotide pools. This polyclonal antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly specific for human ITPA and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the ITPA protein, this antibody enables researchers to detect and analyze levels of ITPA in various cell types, making it ideal for investigations in areas such as genetics, metabolism, and drug development.
ITPA plays a crucial role in maintaining cell viability by protecting against the toxic effects of noncanonical purine nucleotides. Research on ITPA is important for understanding how disruptions in purine metabolism can lead to diseases such as inborn errors of metabolism, neurodevelopmental disorders, and cancer. By studying the function and regulation of ITPA, researchers can gain insights into potential therapeutic targets for diseases related to purine metabolism dysregulation.

A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence within amino acids 70-150 of human ITPA (Q9BY32).
This gene encodes an inosine triphosphate pyrophosphohydrolase. The encoded protein hydrolyzes inosine triphosphate and deoxyinosine triphosphate to the monophosphate nucleotide and diphosphate. This protein, which is a member of the HAM1 NTPase protein family, is found in the cytoplasm and acts as a homodimer. Defects in the encoded protein can result in inosine triphosphate pyrophosphorylase deficiency which causes an accumulation of ITP in red blood cells. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
