The Anti-Col2A1 Antibody (CAB19308) for research applications. This polyclonal antibody is specifically designed for the detection and analysis of the Col2A1 protein, which is essential for the formation of collagen type II, a crucial component of cartilage. Raised in rabbits, the Anti-Col2A1 Antibody is highly reactive with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the Col2A1 protein, this antibody enables the precise visualization and examination of Col2A1 in various cell types, making it an ideal tool for studies in the fields of orthopedics, rheumatology, and tissue engineering.Col2A1 is known to play a vital role in maintaining the structural integrity of cartilage, making it a key factor in conditions such as osteoarthritis and other joint-related disorders.
Research into the expression and regulation of Col2A1 is crucial for understanding the mechanisms underlying these diseases and developing targeted therapies for their treatment.Overall, the Anti-Col2A1 Antibody offers a valuable resource for scientists and researchers interested in investigating the role of Col2A1 in cartilage formation, maintenance, and pathogenesis, providing a deeper insight into musculoskeletal disorders and potential therapeutic interventions.

This gene encodes the alpha-1 chain of type II collagen, a fibrillar collagen found in cartilage and the vitreous humor of the eye. Mutations in this gene are associated with achondrogenesis, chondrodysplasia, early onset familial osteoarthritis, SED congenita, Langer-Saldino achondrogenesis, Kniest dysplasia, Stickler syndrome type I, and spondyloepimetaphyseal dysplasia Strudwick type. In addition, defects in processing chondrocalcin, a calcium binding protein that is the C-propeptide of this collagen molecule, are also associated with chondrodysplasia. There are two transcripts identified for this gene.
