The CDC27 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB3333) is a valuable tool for researchers studying CDC27, a key component of the anaphase-promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C) involved in cell cycle regulation. This antibody, generated in rabbits, exhibits high specificity and sensitivity towards human samples, making it suitable for use in Western blot applications. By targeting the CDC27 protein, this antibody enables precise detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it an essential resource for investigations in cell biology and cancer research.
CDC27 is essential for the proper functioning of the APC/C, a ubiquitin ligase complex that controls cell cycle progression by targeting key cell cycle regulators for degradation. Dysregulation of CDC27 has been linked to various human diseases, including cancer, making it a promising therapeutic target for anticancer drug development. By elucidating the mechanisms by which CDC27 influences cell cycle progression, researchers can uncover new insights into cancer biology and potentially identify novel strategies for cancer treatment.

The protein encoded by this gene shares strong similarity with Saccharomyces cerevisiae protein Cdc27, and the gene product of Schizosaccharomyces pombe nuc 2. This protein is a component of the anaphase-promoting complex (APC), which is composed of eight protein subunits and is highly conserved in eukaryotic cells. This complex catalyzes the formation of cyclin B-ubiquitin conjugate, which is responsible for the ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis of B-type cyclins. The protein encoded by this gene and three other members of the APC complex contain tetratricopeptide (TPR) repeats, which are important for protein-protein interactions. This protein was shown to interact with mitotic checkpoint proteins including Mad2, p55CDC and BUBR1, and it may thus be involved in controlling the timing of mitosis. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants. Related pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes 2, 22 and Y.
