The Anti-Aquaporin-4 Antibody (CAB13926) is a cutting-edge tool for researchers studying aquaporin-4 (AQP4), a key protein involved in the regulation of water transport in the central nervous system. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high specificity and sensitivity in detecting AQP4 in human samples, making it an essential tool for researchers in the fields of neuroscience and neurology.Aquaporin-4 is primarily expressed in the brain and spinal cord, where it plays a crucial role in maintaining water balance and supporting cellular functions. Dysregulation of AQP4 has been linked to various neurological disorders, such as neuromyelitis optica (NMO) and cerebral edema.
By targeting AQP4 with this antibody, researchers can gain valuable insights into the role of this protein in health and disease. The Anti-Aquaporin-4 Antibody is validated for use in various applications, including immunohistochemistry and western blotting, allowing for accurate and reliable detection of AQP4 in tissue and cell samples. Its high specificity and sensitivity make it an indispensable tool for investigating the function and regulation of AQP4 in normal physiology and pathology, paving the way for new therapeutic strategies targeting this important protein.

This gene encodes a member of the aquaporin family of intrinsic membrane proteins that function as water-selective channels in the plasma membranes of many cells. This protein is the predominant aquaporin found in brain and has an important role in brain water homeostasis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene. Additional isoforms, resulting from the use of alternative in-frame translation initiation codons, have also been described. Recent studies provided evidence for translational readthrough in this gene, and expression of C-terminally extended isoforms via the use of an alternative in-frame translation termination codon.
