The AHCY Polyclonal Antibody (CAB2756) is a valuable tool for researchers studying AHCY, an enzyme involved in the methionine cycle and crucial for maintaining cellular methylation. This antibody, raised in rabbits, is highly specific and reactive with human AHCY protein, making it ideal for use in Western blot and immunohistochemistry applications. By targeting AHCY, researchers can gain insights into its role in cellular processes and its potential implications in diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disorders, and neurological conditions.
AHCY, also known as adenosylhomocysteinase, is a key enzyme in the methionine cycle that regulates homocysteine levels and S-adenosylmethionine synthesis. Dysregulation of AHCY has been linked to various diseases, highlighting its importance in maintaining cellular homocysteine balance and methylation capacity. By studying AHCY expression and activity, researchers can further understand its involvement in disease mechanisms and potentially identify novel therapeutic targets for intervention.

A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence within amino acids 300-400 of human AHCY (P23526).
S-adenosylhomocysteine hydrolase belongs to the adenosylhomocysteinase family. It catalyzes the reversible hydrolysis of S-adenosylhomocysteine (AdoHcy) to adenosine (Ado) and L-homocysteine (Hcy). Thus, it regulates the intracellular S-adenosylhomocysteine (SAH) concentration thought to be important for transmethylation reactions. Deficiency in this protein is one of the different causes of hypermethioninemia. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
