The Anti-ABHD5 Antibody (CAB8673) is a high-quality research tool designed for investigating ABHD5, a crucial protein involved in lipid metabolism and energy balance. This polyclonal antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits strong reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in various applications, including Western blot analysis. By specifically binding to ABHD5, this antibody allows for the detection and study of ABHD5 expression in different cell types, making it a valuable tool for research in metabolism, obesity, and related disorders.ABHD5, also known as α/β hydrolase domain-containing protein 5, plays a key role in the breakdown of stored fats (lipolysis) by activating adipose triglyceride lipase (ATGL).
Dysregulation of ABHD5 function has been implicated in metabolic disorders such as familial partial lipodystrophy and neutral lipid storage disease, highlighting the importance of studying this protein in the context of lipid metabolism and energy homeostasis. This antibody provides researchers with a reliable tool to explore the role of ABHD5 in cellular lipid metabolism and its potential as a therapeutic target for metabolic diseases.
Product Name:
ABHD5 Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody

Immunogen:
A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence within amino acids 100-200 of human ABHD5 (Q8WTS1).
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to a large family of proteins defined by an alpha/beta hydrolase fold, and contains three sequence motifs that correspond to a catalytic triad found in the esterase/lipase/thioesterase subfamily. It differs from other members of this subfamily in that its putative catalytic triad contains an asparagine instead of the serine residue. Mutations in this gene have been associated with Chanarin-Dorfman syndrome, a triglyceride storage disease with impaired long-chain fatty acid oxidation.
