The Anti-ABCG2 Antibody (CAB5661) is a vital tool for researchers studying the ABCG2 protein, a key transporter involved in drug resistance and protection against xenobiotics. This polyclonal antibody, generated in rabbits, exhibits high specificity and sensitivity for human samples, and has been validated for use in Western blotting and immunohistochemistry applications. By targeting the ABCG2 protein, researchers can analyze its expression and function in various cell types, shedding light on its role in drug resistance mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets in cancer and other diseases.
ABCG2, also known as breast cancer resistance protein (BCRP), is a crucial player in multidrug resistance in cancer cells, limiting the effectiveness of chemotherapy treatments. Its overexpression is associated with poor prognosis and treatment outcomes in cancer patients, making it a promising target for drug development and personalized medicine approaches. By understanding the mechanisms and regulation of ABCG2, researchers can identify novel strategies to overcome drug resistance and improve clinical outcomes in cancer therapy.

The membrane-associated protein encoded by this gene is included in the superfamily of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters. ABC proteins transport various molecules across extra- and intra-cellular membranes. ABC genes are divided into seven distinct subfamilies (ABC1, MDR/TAP, MRP, ALD, OABP, GCN20, White). This protein is a member of the White subfamily. Alternatively referred to as a breast cancer resistance protein, this protein functions as a xenobiotic transporter which may play a major role in multi-drug resistance. It likely serves as a cellular defense mechanism in response to mitoxantrone and anthracycline exposure. Significant expression of this protein has been observed in the placenta, which may suggest a potential role for this molecule in placenta tissue. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
