The ALPL Polyclonal Antibody (CAB1080) is specifically designed for research involving ALPL, also known as alkaline phosphatase, a key enzyme involved in bone and liver function. This antibody, raised in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the ALPL protein, this antibody enables researchers to detect and analyze ALPL expression in various cell types, making it ideal for studies in bone biology, liver function, and enzyme regulation.
ALPL is essential for bone mineralization and plays a crucial role in liver function and bile production. Dysregulation of ALPL activity has been associated with a variety of skeletal and liver disorders, making it a promising target for the development of therapies for conditions such as osteoporosis, liver disease, and metabolic disorders. Understanding the function of ALPL is important for advancing research and treatment options in these areas.
This gene encodes a member of the alkaline phosphatase family of proteins. There are at least four distinct but related alkaline phosphatases: intestinal, placental, placental-like, and liver/bone/kidney (tissue non-specific). The first three are located together on chromosome 2, while the tissue non-specific form is located on chromosome 1. The product of this gene is a membrane bound glycosylated enzyme that is not expressed in any particular tissue and is, therefore, referred to as the tissue-nonspecific form of the enzyme. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants, at least one of which encodes a preproprotein that is proteolytically processed to generate the mature enzyme. This enzyme may play a role in bone mineralization. Mutations in this gene have been linked to hypophosphatasia, a disorder that is characterized by hypercalcemia and skeletal defects.
