The Alpha-Fetoprotein (AFP) Monoclonal Antibody (CAB22053) is a specialized antibody designed for research involving the detection and analysis of Alpha-Fetoprotein, a protein associated with various diseases and conditions, including liver cancer and pregnancy-related complications. This monoclonal antibody, produced using advanced technology, offers high specificity and sensitivity when detecting AFP in human samples, making it a valuable tool for researchers in the fields of oncology, obstetrics, and pathology.Alpha-Fetoprotein is a glycoprotein produced primarily by the liver during fetal development and is typically present in low levels in healthy adults. However, elevated levels of AFP have been associated with certain types of cancer, particularly hepatocellular carcinoma.
The AFP Monoclonal Antibody provides researchers with a reliable method for detecting and quantifying AFP levels in blood, tissue, and cell samples, allowing for the identification and monitoring of AFP-related conditions.By using the AFP Monoclonal Antibody in experiments such as enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) and immunohistochemistry, researchers can gain a better understanding of the role of Alpha-Fetoprotein in disease progression and prognosis. This antibody is a valuable resource for studying the mechanisms underlying AFP expression and its potential as a biomarker for cancer diagnosis and monitoring.

This gene encodes alpha-fetoprotein, a major plasma protein produced by the yolk sac and the liver during fetal life. Alpha-fetoprotein expression in adults is often associated with hepatocarcinoma and with teratoma, and has prognostic value for managing advanced gastric cancer. However, hereditary persistance of alpha-fetoprotein may also be found in individuals with no obvious pathology. The protein is thought to be the fetal counterpart of serum albumin, and the alpha-fetoprotein and albumin genes are present in tandem in the same transcriptional orientation on chromosome 4. Alpha-fetoprotein is found in monomeric as well as dimeric and trimeric forms, and binds copper, nickel, fatty acids and bilirubin. The level of alpha-fetoprotein in amniotic fluid is used to measure renal loss of protein to screen for spina bifida and anencephaly.
