The ALAS1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB6521) is a key tool for researchers studying ALAS1, a crucial enzyme in the heme biosynthesis pathway. This antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly specific to human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the ALAS1 protein, this antibody allows for accurate detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it an essential component for studies in biochemistry and hematology.ALAS1, also known as 5'-aminolevulinate synthase 1, plays a vital role in the synthesis of heme, a molecule essential for oxygen transport and many enzymatic reactions in the body.
Dysregulation of ALAS1 has been implicated in various disorders, including porphyrias and certain types of anemia. By understanding the function and regulation of ALAS1, researchers can gain insights into these diseases and potentially develop new therapeutic strategies. In conclusion, the ALAS1 Polyclonal Antibody is a valuable tool for researchers seeking to investigate the role of ALAS1 in heme biosynthesis and related disorders. Its high specificity and reliability make it an ideal choice for studies in molecular biology, biochemistry, and medical research.

This gene encodes the mitochondrial enzyme which is catalyzes the rate-limiting step in heme (iron-protoporphyrin) biosynthesis. The enzyme encoded by this gene is the housekeeping enzyme; a separate gene encodes a form of the enzyme that is specific for erythroid tissue. The level of the mature encoded protein is regulated by heme: high levels of heme down-regulate the mature enzyme in mitochondria while low heme levels up-regulate. A pseudogene of this gene is located on chromosome 12. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
