The ALAS1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB13462) is a vital tool for researching ALAS1, an enzyme involved in heme biosynthesis, an essential process for producing hemoglobin. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in techniques such as Western blotting.ALAS1 is a critical enzyme in the heme biosynthesis pathway and is responsible for catalyzing the first step in this process. Dysregulation of ALAS1 expression or activity can lead to disorders such as porphyrias, which are characterized by abnormalities in heme production.
Investigating the role of ALAS1 in these conditions can provide insights into disease mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets. The ALAS1 Polyclonal Antibody enables researchers to detect and analyze the expression of ALAS1 in various biological samples, making it a valuable tool for studies in hematology, metabolism, and related fields. By understanding the function and regulation of ALAS1, researchers can advance knowledge of heme biosynthesis and its implications for human health and disease.

Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 1-250 of human ALAS1 (NP_954635.1).
This gene encodes the mitochondrial enzyme which is catalyzes the rate-limiting step in heme (iron-protoporphyrin) biosynthesis. The enzyme encoded by this gene is the housekeeping enzyme; a separate gene encodes a form of the enzyme that is specific for erythroid tissue. The level of the mature encoded protein is regulated by heme: high levels of heme down-regulate the mature enzyme in mitochondria while low heme levels up-regulate. A pseudogene of this gene is located on chromosome 12. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
