The ALAD Polyclonal Antibody (CAB12395) is a valuable tool for research involving Aminolevulinate dehydratase (ALAD), an enzyme involved in heme biosynthesis. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in various applications, including Western blotting. By binding specifically to the ALAD protein, this antibody enables precise detection and analysis in different cell types, making it suitable for studies in biochemistry and molecular biology.ALAD is essential for the production of heme, a vital component of hemoglobin and other hemoproteins.
Dysregulation of ALAD activity has been linked to disorders such as porphyria and lead poisoning, highlighting the importance of understanding its function in health and disease. Research on ALAD can provide insights into mechanisms of heme synthesis and potential therapeutic targets for related conditions. The ALAD Polyclonal Antibody is a reliable tool for investigating the role of ALAD in cellular processes and disease pathology. Its specificity and sensitivity make it a valuable asset for researchers exploring the intricate pathways of heme metabolism and its implications for human health.
Product Name:
ALAD Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody
SKU:
CAB12395
Size:
20uL, 100uL
Isotype:
IgG
Host Species:
Rabbit
Reactivity:
Human,Mouse
Immunogen:
Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 1-330 of human ALAD (NP_000022.3).
The ALAD enzyme is composed of 8 identical subunits and catalyzes the condensation of 2 molecules of delta-aminolevulinate to form porphobilinogen (a precursor of heme, cytochromes and other hemoproteins). ALAD catalyzes the second step in the porphyrin and heme biosynthetic pathway; zinc is essential for enzymatic activity. ALAD enzymatic activity is inhibited by lead and a defect in the ALAD structural gene can cause increased sensitivity to lead poisoning and acute hepatic porphyria. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
