The AK4 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB2050) is a valuable tool for researchers studying AK4, a key enzyme involved in cellular metabolism and energy production. This antibody, raised in rabbits, is highly specific to human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the AK4 protein, this antibody enables precise detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it an essential component for studies in metabolic diseases, cancer research, and cellular bioenergetics.AK4, also known as adenylate kinase 4, plays a crucial role in maintaining cellular energy balance by catalyzing the conversion of adenine nucleotides, which are vital for ATP production.
Dysregulation of AK4 has been implicated in various diseases, making it a promising target for therapeutic interventions aimed at restoring cellular energy homeostasis. Understanding the functions of AK4 is essential for developing novel treatments for metabolic disorders and cancer, highlighting the importance of this antibody in advancing scientific knowledge in these areas.

This gene encodes a member of the adenylate kinase family of enzymes. The encoded protein is localized to the mitochondrial matrix. Adenylate kinases regulate the adenine and guanine nucleotide compositions within a cell by catalyzing the reversible transfer of phosphate group among these nucleotides. Five isozymes of adenylate kinase have been identified in vertebrates. Expression of these isozymes is tissue-specific and developmentally regulated. A pseudogene for this gene has been located on chromosome 17. Three transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified for this gene. Sequence alignment suggests that the gene defined by NM_013410, NM_203464, and NM_001005353 is located on chromosome 1.
