The AGPAT2 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB6518) is a valuable tool for researchers studying AGPAT2, an enzyme involved in lipid metabolism and cell signaling pathways. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding specifically to the AGPAT2 protein, this antibody enables accurate detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it an ideal choice for studies in biochemistry and molecular biology.
AGPAT2, also known as 1-acyl-sn-glycerol-3-phosphate acyltransferase 2, plays a crucial role in synthesizing phosphatidic acid, a key intermediate in lipid biosynthesis. Dysregulation of AGPAT2 has been implicated in various diseases, including obesity, diabetes, and cancer, making it a promising target for therapeutic interventions. Investigating the function of AGPAT2 is essential for understanding its role in disease pathogenesis and developing potential treatments.

Human,Mouse
Immunogen:
Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 199-278 of human AGPAT2 (NP_006403.2).
This gene encodes a member of the 1-acylglycerol-3-phosphate O-acyltransferase family. The protein is located within the endoplasmic reticulum membrane and converts lysophosphatidic acid to phosphatidic acid, the second step in de novo phospholipid biosynthesis. Mutations in this gene have been associated with congenital generalized lipodystrophy (CGL), or Berardinelli-Seip syndrome, a disease characterized by a near absence of adipose tissue and severe insulin resistance. Alternate transcriptional splice variants, encoding different isoforms, have been characterized.
