The Mouse F4/80 Monoclonal Antibody (CI-A3-1) is a highly specific antibody designed for researchers studying macrophages and tissue macrophages in mouse models. This purified antibody, available through Assay Genie, recognizes the F4/80 glycoprotein, a well-known marker for murine macrophages.Macrophages are essential components of the immune system, playing key roles in inflammation, tissue repair, and host defense. The F4/80 protein is predominantly expressed on the surface of mature macrophages and is commonly used as a marker to identify these cells in various tissues. The CI-A3-1 antibody allows for the detection and visualization of F4/80-expressing macrophages in experimental settings, providing valuable insights into the distribution, function, and activation state of these important immune cells.
This antibody is ideal for immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, and other molecular biology techniques aimed at studying macrophage biology and immune responses in mouse models.By utilizing the Mouse F4/80 Monoclonal Antibody (CI-A3-1) from Assay Genie, researchers can advance their studies in immunology, inflammation, cancer research, and beyond, shedding light on the intricate interactions between macrophages and various physiological and pathological processes.

Background:
F4/80 is a 160 kD glycoprotein. It is characterized as a member of the epidermal growth factor (EGF)-transmembrane 7 (TM7) family. F4/80, also known as EMR1 or Ly71, has been widely used as a murine macrophage marker, which is expressed on the majority of tissue macrophages including peritoneal macrophages, macrophages in lung, gut, thymus and red pulp of spleen (but not on the macrophages located in T cell areas of the spleen, lymph node and Peyer's patch), Kuffer cells, Langerhans cells, and bone marrow stromal cells. F4/80 has also been shown on a subset of dendritic cells. The biological ligand of F4/80 has not been identified, but it has been reported that F4/80 is required for induction of CD8+ T cells-mediated peripheral tolerance.
