The Mouse CD71 Purified Monoclonal Antibody (R17-217.1-3 (TIB-219)) is a versatile tool for researchers studying CD71, a transmembrane glycoprotein involved in cellular iron uptake and transport. This highly specific antibody, purified from mouse cells, is suitable for various analytical techniques such as flow cytometry, immunoprecipitation, and immunohistochemistry.CD71, also known as transferrin receptor protein 1, plays a crucial role in iron metabolism by facilitating the internalization and transport of iron-bound transferrin into cells.
Its expression levels are often indicative of cellular iron requirements and can be dysregulated in conditions like iron deficiency anemia and certain cancers. With its ability to bind specifically to CD71, this monoclonal antibody enables precise detection and visualization of the protein in various experimental settings. Researchers in the fields of cell biology, oncology, and molecular medicine can benefit from utilizing this antibody to investigate the role of CD71 in iron homeostasis, cell proliferation, and disease pathology.

Background:
CD71 is a 95 kD type II heterodimeric transmembrane glycoprotein that is also known as T9 and transferrin receptor. CD71 is expressed on proliferating cells, reticulocytes, and erythroid precursors. Its expression is very low on resting leukocytes. CD71 plays a role in the control of cellular proliferation by facilitating the uptake of iron via ferrotransferrin binding and the recycling of apotransferrin to the cell surface.
