The ADAMTS5 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB2836) is a valuable tool for researchers studying ADAMTS5, an enzyme involved in extracellular matrix remodeling and implicated in various diseases, including osteoarthritis. This antibody is raised in rabbits and has high reactivity with human samples, making it ideal for Western blot applications.ADAMTS5 plays a crucial role in tissue remodeling and degradation of aggrecan, a key component of cartilage. Dysregulation of ADAMTS5 has been linked to cartilage degradation and joint inflammation in osteoarthritis. By targeting ADAMTS5, researchers can investigate its role in disease progression and potentially develop targeted therapies for osteoarthritis.
This antibody binds specifically to ADAMTS5 protein, allowing for accurate detection and analysis in different cell types and tissues. Its versatility makes it a valuable tool for research in musculoskeletal disorders, cartilage biology, and therapeutic development. Understanding the function of ADAMTS5 is essential for advancing knowledge of disease mechanisms and identifying novel treatment strategies for conditions like osteoarthritis.

A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence within amino acids 601-700 of human ADAMTS5 (NP_008969.2).
This gene encodes a member of the ADAMTS (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs) protein family. Members of the family share several distinct protein modules, including a propeptide region, a metalloproteinase domain, a disintegrin-like domain, and a thrombospondin type 1 (TS) motif. Individual members of this family differ in the number of C-terminal TS motifs, and some have unique C-terminal domains. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate the mature enzyme. This enzyme contains two C-terminal TS motifs and functions as an aggrecanase that cleaves aggrecan, a major proteoglycan of cartilage, and may mediate cartilage destruction in osteoarthritis.
