Description
ADAM29 Antibody (PACO59553)
The ADAM29 Antibody (PAC05953) is a valuable tool for researchers studying ADAM29, a member of the ADAM (A Disintegrin And Metalloproteinase) family of proteins known for their role in cell adhesion, migration, and proteolysis. This polyclonal antibody, raised in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples, making it a reliable choice for Western blot applications.ADAM29 is involved in various cellular processes, including cell signaling, immune response regulation, and tumor progression. By targeting ADAM29 with this antibody, researchers can detect and analyze its expression in different cell types, providing insights into its function in immunology and cancer research.
The antibody's specificity and sensitivity make it an essential tool for investigating the role of ADAM29 in various pathophysiological conditions. Understanding the functions and mechanisms of ADAM29 may lead to the development of novel therapeutic strategies for diseases such as cancer, inflammation, and autoimmune disorders. Harnessing the potential of ADAM29 as a target molecule could pave the way for innovative treatment approaches in the future.

IHC image of PACO59553 diluted at 1:500 and staining in paraffin-embedded human prostate cancer performed on a Leica BondTM system. After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30min at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. The primary is detected by a biotinylated secondary antibody and visualized using an HRP conjugated SP system. | |
Immunofluorescence staining of Hela cells with PACO59553 at 1:166, counter-stained with DAPI. The cells were fixed in 4% formaldehyde, permeabilized using 0.2% Triton X-100 and blocked in 10% normal Goat Serum. The cells were then incubated with the antibody overnight at 4°C. The secondary antibody was Alexa Fluor 488-congugated AffiniPure Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG(H+L). |
Background: | May be involved in spermatogenesis and fertilization. Seems to be a non catalytic metalloprotease-like protein. |
Synonyms: | Disintegrin and metalloproteinase domain-containing protein 29 (ADAM 29) (Cancer/testis antigen 73) (CT73), ADAM29 |
UniProt Protein Function: | ADAM29: a member of the ADAM (a disintegrin and metalloprotease domain) family of Cancer-Testis Antigen (CTAs). CTAs may play roles in embryonal development and tumor transformation or aspects of tumor progression. CTAs were once thought to be silenced in most normal adult tissues, with limited expression in fetal, placental, testis, and ovarian cells. These proteins are now known to be aberrantly expressed in various cancers and many are capable of eliciting humoral and cellular immune responses. Members of this family are membrane-anchored proteins structurally related to snake venom disintegrins. May be involved in spermatogenesis and fertilization. Seems to be a non catalytic metalloprotease-like protein. Has been found to be frequently mutated in melanoma. Mutations may play a role in melanoma progression and metastasis. Expressed in leukemias at the mRNA level. Three isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. |

NCBI Summary: | This gene encodes a member of the ADAM (a disintegrin and metalloprotease domain) family. Members of this family are membrane-anchored proteins structurally related to snake venom disintegrins, and have been implicated in a variety of biological processes involving cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions, including fertilization, muscle development, and neurogenesis. The protein encoded by this gene is highly expressed in testis and may be involved in human spermatogenesis. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants that encode the same protein.
