Description
ACTN1/ACTN2/ACTN3/ACTN4 Antibody (PACO22008)
The ACTN1-4 Polyclonal Antibody (PACO22008) is a versatile tool for researchers studying the actinin family of proteins, specifically ACTN1, ACTN2, ACTN3, and ACTN4. These proteins play key roles in cell structure, adhesion, and motility, making them important targets in the fields of cell biology and cancer research. Raised in rabbits, this antibody demonstrates high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the ACTN1-4 proteins, researchers can effectively detect and analyze these proteins in a variety of cell types, providing valuable insights into their functions and potential implications in disease processes.
The actinins are involved in a wide range of cellular processes, including cell migration, adhesion, and signaling pathways. Dysregulation of these proteins has been linked to various diseases, including cancer, muscular dystrophies, and cardiovascular disorders. By investigating the expression and activity of ACTN1-4, researchers can gain a better understanding of the underlying mechanisms driving these diseases and potentially identify new therapeutic targets for intervention.

NCBI Summary: | Alpha actinins belong to the spectrin gene superfamily which represents a diverse group of cytoskeletal proteins, including the alpha and beta spectrins and dystrophins. Alpha actinin is an actin-binding protein with multiple roles in different cell types. In nonmuscle cells, the cytoskeletal isoform is found along microfilament bundles and adherens-type junctions, where it is involved in binding actin to the membrane. In contrast, skeletal, cardiac, and smooth muscle isoforms are localized to the Z-disc and analogous dense bodies, where they help anchor the myofibrillar actin filaments. This gene encodes a nonmuscle, cytoskeletal, alpha actinin isoform and maps to the same site as the structurally similar erythroid beta spectrin gene. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
