The ACSL5 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB14130) is a valuable tool for researchers studying ACSL5, an enzyme involved in fatty acid metabolism. This antibody, generated in rabbits, exhibits high specificity and reactivity in human samples, making it ideal for use in Western blot applications. By binding specifically to the ACSL5 protein, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of ACSL5 levels in various cell types, facilitating research in the fields of metabolism, lipid biology, and cancer.
ACSL5, a member of the acyl-CoA synthetase family, plays a crucial role in the activation of long-chain fatty acids for lipid biosynthesis and energy production. Dysregulation of ACSL5 has been linked to various metabolic disorders and cancers, highlighting its importance as a potential therapeutic target. The ACSL5 Polyclonal Antibody offers researchers the ability to investigate the role of ACSL5 in these diseases and develop targeted therapies aimed at modulating its activity.

The protein encoded by this gene is an isozyme of the long-chain fatty-acid-coenzyme A ligase family. Although differing in substrate specificity, subcellular localization, and tissue distribution, all isozymes of this family convert free long-chain fatty acids into fatty acyl-CoA esters, and thereby play a key role in lipid biosynthesis and fatty acid degradation. This isozyme is highly expressed in uterus and spleen, and in trace amounts in normal brain, but has markedly increased levels in malignant gliomas. This gene functions in mediating fatty acid-induced glioma cell growth. Three transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been found for this gene.
