The ACLY Polyclonal Antibody (CAB15251) is a crucial tool for researchers studying the ATP citrate lyase (ACLY) protein, which plays a key role in cellular energy metabolism and lipogenesis. This antibody, produced in rabbits, specifically targets human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications. It binds to the ACLY protein, allowing for accurate detection and analysis in various cell types, making it an excellent choice for studies in metabolic research and cancer biology.
ACLY is a key enzyme in the synthesis of cytosolic acetyl-CoA, an essential building block for fatty acid and cholesterol biosynthesis. Dysregulation of ACLY has been linked to metabolic diseases like obesity and cancer, making it a promising therapeutic target for drug development. By understanding the function of ACLY, researchers can uncover new insights into metabolic pathways and potentially discover novel strategies for treating metabolic disorders and cancer.

ATP citrate lyase is the primary enzyme responsible for the synthesis of cytosolic acetyl-CoA in many tissues. The enzyme is a tetramer (relative molecular weight approximately 440,000) of apparently identical subunits. It catalyzes the formation of acetyl-CoA and oxaloacetate from citrate and CoA with a concomitant hydrolysis of ATP to ADP and phosphate. The product, acetyl-CoA, serves several important biosynthetic pathways, including lipogenesis and cholesterogenesis. In nervous tissue, ATP citrate-lyase may be involved in the biosynthesis of acetylcholine. Multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene.
