The ABHD5 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB6801) is a valuable tool for researchers studying ABHD5, a key protein involved in lipid metabolism and energy balance. This antibody, produced in rabbits, shows high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By targeting the ABHD5 protein, researchers can accurately detect and analyze its expression in various cell types, making it ideal for studies in metabolism, obesity, and lipid-related diseases.
ABHD5, also known as α/β-hydrolase domain-containing protein 5, plays a crucial role in lipolysis and lipid droplet metabolism, making it a potential target for therapeutic interventions in metabolic disorders such as obesity and fatty liver disease. Understanding the functions and regulatory mechanisms of ABHD5 is essential for developing novel treatments and interventions to address these prevalent health concerns.

Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 1-349 of human ABHD5 (NP_057090.2).
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to a large family of proteins defined by an alpha/beta hydrolase fold, and contains three sequence motifs that correspond to a catalytic triad found in the esterase/lipase/thioesterase subfamily. It differs from other members of this subfamily in that its putative catalytic triad contains an asparagine instead of the serine residue. Mutations in this gene have been associated with Chanarin-Dorfman syndrome, a triglyceride storage disease with impaired long-chain fatty acid oxidation.
