The ABCE1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB8146) is a powerful tool for researchers studying ABCE1, a protein involved in critical cellular functions such as mRNA translation and ribosome biogenesis. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. It specifically binds to ABCE1, allowing for precise detection and analysis in various cell types, making it ideal for investigations in molecular biology and cell biology research.
ABCE1, also referred to as RNase L inhibitor or HP68, plays a crucial role in regulating protein synthesis and maintaining cell survival. Its involvement in key cellular processes makes it a significant target for research in areas such as cancer biology, viral infections, and genetic disorders. By studying the functions of ABCE1, researchers can gain valuable insights into the mechanisms underlying these conditions and potentially uncover new therapeutic strategies.

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the superfamily of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters. ABC proteins transport various molecules across extra- and intra-cellular membranes. ABC genes are divided into seven distinct subfamilies (ABC1, MDR/TAP, MRP, ALD, OABP, GCN20, White). This protein is a member of the OABP subfamily. Alternatively referred to as the RNase L inhibitor, this protein functions to block the activity of ribonuclease L. Activation of ribonuclease L leads to inhibition of protein synthesis in the 2-5A/RNase L system, the central pathway for viral interferon action. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene.
