The ABCB11 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB14694) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the ATP-binding cassette sub-family B member 11 (ABCB11) protein. ABCB11, also known as the bile salt export pump (BSEP), is responsible for the transport of bile salts from hepatocytes into bile, playing a crucial role in bile formation and secretion. This polyclonal antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly specific and reacts strongly with human samples. It has been validated for use in Western blot applications, enabling the detection and analysis of ABCB11 in various cell types and tissues. Its high reactivity and specificity make it ideal for studies in hepatology, gastroenterology, and liver disease research.
ABCB11 dysfunction has been implicated in various liver disorders, including cholestasis and bile duct diseases. By understanding the expression and function of ABCB11, researchers can gain insights into the pathophysiology of these conditions and potentially develop targeted therapies. The ABCB11 Polyclonal Antibody is a critical tool for investigating the role of ABCB11 in liver function and disease, advancing our understanding of bile transport mechanisms and liver health.

The membrane-associated protein encoded by this gene is a member of the superfamily of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters. ABC proteins transport various molecules across extra- and intra-cellular membranes. ABC genes are divided into seven distinct subfamilies (ABC1, MDR/TAP, MRP, ALD, OABP, GCN20, White). This protein is a member of the MDR/TAP subfamily. Members of the MDR/TAP subfamily are involved in multidrug resistance. The protein encoded by this gene is the major canalicular bile salt export pump in man. Mutations in this gene cause a form of progressive familial intrahepatic cholestases which are a group of inherited disorders with severe cholestatic liver disease from early infancy.
