The AASS Polyclonal Antibody is a valuable tool for researchers studying AASS, a key enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of amino acids. This antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly specific to human samples and is suitable for use in various applications, including Western blotting. By targeting the AASS protein, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of AASS in different cell types, making it an essential tool for studies in biochemistry and metabolism.AASS, also known as aminoadipate-semialdehyde synthase, plays a crucial role in the metabolic pathway responsible for producing lysine, an essential amino acid.
Dysregulation of AASS activity has been linked to various metabolic disorders and diseases, making it a promising target for therapeutic interventions. By understanding the function of AASS, researchers can gain insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying these conditions and potentially develop new treatment strategies.

This gene encodes a bifunctional enzyme that catalyzes the first two steps in the mammalian lysine degradation pathway. The N-terminal and the C-terminal portions of this enzyme contain lysine-ketoglutarate reductase and saccharopine dehydrogenase activity, respectively, resulting in the conversion of lysine to alpha-aminoadipic semialdehyde. Mutations in this gene are associated with familial hyperlysinemia.
