The AANAT Polyclonal Antibody (CAB11850) is a valuable tool for researchers studying arylalkylamine N-acetyltransferase (AANAT), an enzyme involved in melatonin biosynthesis. This high-quality antibody, produced in rabbits, specifically targets AANAT in human samples and is validated for use in applications such as Western blotting.AANAT plays a crucial role in the regulation of the circadian rhythm and melatonin synthesis, making it a key protein in studies related to sleep disorders, mood disorders, and other conditions influenced by the body's internal clock.
The AANAT Polyclonal Antibody provides researchers with a reliable means of detecting and analyzing AANAT expression in various cell types, allowing for deeper insights into its function and potential therapeutic applications. By utilizing this antibody, researchers can advance their understanding of the role of AANAT in health and disease, paving the way for the development of targeted treatments and interventions that leverage the body's natural processes for improved health outcomes.

Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 1-207 of human AANAT (NP_001079.1).
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the acetyltransferase superfamily. It is the penultimate enzyme in melatonin synthesis and controls the night/day rhythm in melatonin production in the vertebrate pineal gland. Melatonin is essential for the function of the circadian clock that influences activity and sleep. This enzyme is regulated by cAMP-dependent phosphorylation that promotes its interaction with 14-3-3 proteins and thus protects the enzyme against proteasomal degradation. This gene may contribute to numerous genetic diseases such as delayed sleep phase syndrome. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
