The A2M Polyclonal Antibody (CAB1573) is a research tool designed for studying A2M, a protein involved in various physiological processes, including inflammation and tissue repair. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding specifically to the A2M protein, researchers can accurately detect and analyze its expression in different cell types, making it a valuable tool for studies in immunology and cancer research.
A2M, also known as alpha-2-macroglobulin, is a multifunctional protein that plays a crucial role in the regulation of inflammatory responses and tissue remodeling. Its involvement in these processes makes it a promising target for research into diseases such as cancer, autoimmune disorders, and neurodegenerative conditions. By understanding the function of A2M, researchers can potentially uncover new therapeutic strategies for managing these diseases by targeting the protein's activity.
Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 1155-1474 of human Alpha-2-Macroglobulin (Alpha-2-Macroglobulin (A2M)) (NP_000005.2).
The protein encoded by this gene is a protease inhibitor and cytokine transporter. It uses a bait-and-trap mechanism to inhibit a broad spectrum of proteases, including trypsin, thrombin and collagenase. It can also inhibit inflammatory cytokines, and it thus disrupts inflammatory cascades. Mutations in this gene are a cause of alpha-2-macroglobulin deficiency. This gene is implicated in Alzheimer's disease (AD) due to its ability to mediate the clearance and degradation of A-beta, the major component of beta-amyloid deposits. A related pseudogene, which is also located on the p arm of chromosome 12, has been identified.
